In 2007 Mike was given the enormous privilege of using J M W Turner's pigments to be ground by him into watercolour. Ron Gribble

He trained as a commercial artist, but loves most of all to paint the natural landscape, as God created it, but in a bold, painterly style. It should look at its best when viewed from four to six metres away. Oils would be his medium of choice, but he has won awards in Acrylics, Water Colours as well as Oils. He has won or been placed in thirteen national art competitions since he began painting seriously in 1978.

His paintings have been reproduced in the form of hand signed limited edition prints, place- mats, coasters, and calendars. As the result of successful exhibitions, Ron’s work can be found in many countries in the world. Ron is the author of an instructional video, “Painting in Oils, with Ron Gribble.” This has sold many copies in his native New Zealand, and under license in the U.K. and Australia. He has, as a result, become a sought after tutor, and judge.

Steve Hall
At about the time of the millennium Steve Hall first became aware of the work of Edward Wesson . Here was some one who had managed to put aside all the verbal clutter about the medium of watercolour and put down on paper what he observed in as simple and honest fashion as was possible. Sadly Ted Wesson is no longer with us, however he was such a prolific painter and demonstrator that literally thousands of his paintings are still in existence and regularly appear in both galleries and auctions.Other artists with a similar honest approach to the medium have also influenced Steves style and approach to painting including Edward Seago, Jack Merriott, James Fletcher-Watson and lately John Yardley, with whom he had the pleasure to paint at Dedham Hall.So join with him and explore all that is good about fresh watercolour. It is to embark on a journey that is unending and at times full of frustration and pitfalls yet, for the determined traveller, one that can be so rewarding.

Richard Rogers
Born in Kyogle, New South Wales in 1954, Richard Rogers is known for iconic Australian imagery and the vibrancy of his painting style. His art education has been largely informal. During the 1980's he learnt the technique of batik from South Australian artist Jeremy Keyte, which led to his first solo exhibition, held at the Underground Gallery in Coober Pedy in 1985. Dissatisfied with the colour fastness of the dyes he used, he switched to painting with more traditional mediums, watercolour, acrylics.and oils. He now paints primarily with acrylics. Meeting and spending time with an aboriginal artist, John Evans, inspired a desire to create an art style that is identifiably Australian, one that combines the rhythm, patterns and colour of indigenous art with Europeon art techniques. Richard's last exhibition sold completely and his work has been featured in the Artists Palette and Australian Artist magazines. His paintings are found in collections throughout Australia and overseas.

Hazel Soan
Hazel was born in Woking and grew up in Surrey. From her teens she knew she wished to pursue an artistic career but had no knowledge of living artists. It was only at Art College that she realized it was possible to make a life out of painting. Within a year of her graduation she was earning her living by her paintings and soon had her first show in London, where her watercolours sold out in the opening hour. She followed this with regular exhibitions, heeding the advice of one of her College lecturers: ‘Always has an exhibition on the horizon’. Since then she has had many successful solo and mixed shows mostly in London but also as far afield as Venezuela and Zimbabwe. She has a light-filled studio and gallery in West London and a studio in Cape Town, and has travelled widely throughout the world, especially in Southern Africa.

Hazel always loved the written word and began writing articles and books about painting in the 1990’s. Analyzing visual practice became an interesting challenge. She has now written 10 books, mostly on watercolour, almost all published by HarperCollins. She currently writes a bi-monthly article for ‘Kunst for Alle’, one of Norway’s leading Art magazines and contributes articles to magazines, such as ‘The Artist’ and ‘Leisure Painter’.

In 1996, with a desire to communicate her passion to a wider audience, Hazel took up the offer of her own television series ‘Splash of Colour’ with Anglia TV. This propelled her into the public eye and later brought her the role as an Art Expert on Channnel 4’s ever popular painting programme ‘Watercolour Challenge’. Her natural enthusiasm and engaging personality won the hearts of millions of viewers and her talents as a communicator made her much in demand for lectures, workshops, painting holidays and demonstrations, taking her from the QE2 to the Kalahari Desert..
