Adebanji Alade
Adebanji Alade is one of the most exciting new artists in Britain today
working in both oil and acrylic. He has won a clutch of awards for his
dynamic, mostly urban, paintings that are usually full of
people and life. Not that Adebanji paints his people with
solemnity and precision. Often as not they are applied in a
frenzy of colour and brushstrokes and are little more than
dabs of colour. But the results are spectacular and it is this highly
energised whirlwind style painting. Adebanji is based in London and is
a provisional member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters

Robert Brindley
Working in Watercolour, Oils and Pastels, Robert's main inspiration is
the challenge of capturing light and atmosphere in a modern
impressionistic style. He paints, mainly landscape and coastal scenery,
around his home in North Yorkshire, or on his travels including,
Cornwall, the South Coast, Wales, Scotland and further a field in
Venice, France, India or anywhere where there is an opportunity to
portray nature and her moods. Although primarily a landscape
artist, Robert occasionally paints interiors, sometimes including a
figure in the composition. As in his landscape paintings, Robert
strives to reproduce the quality of the light in the chosen
subject. Robert is a member of the prestigious Royal Society
of Marine Artists. His work can be seen at the Mall Galleries, London,
at their annual exhibition and with other members throughout the
country, in marine related shows.

Mike Chaplin
Mike is known in Britain and internationally as
a painter,
etcher, writer, teacher and television personality. He
originally
trained at Watford School of Art (Graphic Design), and after teaching
art in Hertfordshire schools (his original home) carried out a
postgraduate course in printmaking at Brighton College of Art. Whilst
still a student at Brighton, he was elected (one of the youngest ever)
Associate of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers (RE), became a
fellow in 1971 and subsequently served as Honorary Secretary and later
Vice-President. His love of painting was found early. From the
age
of 12 he knew what he wanted from his life, and has been lucky (and
hard-working) enough to achieve this. A lifelong love of watercolour
was rewarded in 1993 with his election as Associate of the Royal
Watercolour Society, and his elevation to full member in 1997.
Mike’s work, both in painting and printmaking, has made him one of Britain’s most well known painters, and he is represented in many public and private collections worldwide, including those of HM The Queen, HM The Queen Mother, ex-King Constantine of the Hellenes, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, The Ashmolean Museum Oxford, The Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, and the Daily Express (mural for the Boardroom).
Mike achieved great popularity as resident art
expert on the hit Channel 4 programme Watercolour Challenge
with Hannah Gordon. With 3 series and over 60 programmes Mike
reached an audience of over 1 1/2 million . In 2007 Mike was given the
enormous privilege of using J M W Turner's pigments to be ground by him
into watercolour. The paint was subsequently used by him for filming
Turner's watercolour techniques for a permanent exhibition at Tate
Britain in London.

Frank Clarke
Frank
Clarke was born in Dublin, Ireland. It was after retiring early from a
career that included dress designing and property development that he
decided to take up painting as a hobby. He joined a painting group
where he felt intimidated and inferior. After six weeks he quit the
group because he was told that he did not have the gift. But he
was not one to be easily put off. Whether or not he had the gift he was
to pursue his hobby. It was then that he made a most unusual
discovery: "No one was prepared to show him the basics of
painting." Having read every art instruction book he could get
his hands on Frank came to the conclusion that they all seemed to start
at Chapter 4 making the assumption that he had some prior knowledge of
painting which of course he did not. It was then that Frank
decided to write these missing chapters and it worked ....Simply
Painting was born. The first book became a best seller, outselling
all other art teaching books combined in it's first year in Ireland. By
then Frank had also made his first television series. The success
of Simply Painting has been phenomenal with Frank's book "Frank
Clarke's Paintbox,-PUBLISHED BY THE BBC" -nestling in the British
bestseller list and his "Simply Painting" television series is shown on
over 250 television stations worldwide. His second BBC ™
book was published in May 2001 and instantly sold out two print
runs. He has made over 400 programmes to date. These shows are
broadcast across the world and Frank is a household name in the US, UK
and Australia. Frank has also appeared on all the major chat shows in
those countries. Frank has
taught millions of people to paint using his have some more fun system

Noel Gregory
Noel Gregory was born in Ealing England on
Christmas Day 1944 and moved to Buckinghamshire in the early fifties.
His interests were always directed to the arts rather than academic
subjects and his acceptance into High Wycombe College of Art in 1960,
was the start of four years training for the National Diploma in Design
and Art Teachers. Having finished his training with the Art Teachers
Diploma in Bournemouth Noel then taught painting at Newlands Park
teacher training college.
He then started picture
restoring and for over twenty five years dealt with what was to become
the huge growth market of Victorian Water Colours, using his own art
gallery in Farnham Common Buckinghamshire for this purpose. In the late
1980's the economic problems of investment painting, antiques and the
housing markets were such that to continue in the art field he started
painting and producing images and prints to be sold in the gallery. The
interest produced in the these works was sufficient to promote them at
fine art shows, Ideal Home Exhibitions and craft fairs and to develop a
large American market with the juried street fairs of the Sunshine
Trail in Florida and Alabama. He
is now running art courses in Bedar, Almeria in Southern Spain where he
now lives.

Ron Gribble
Ron was born in Te Kuiti in 1949. Ron began his art career when his art
teacher “bullied him into painting” during his
School
Certificate year. He trained as a commercial artist, but loves most of
all to paint the natural landscape, as God created it, but in a bold,
painterly style. It should look at its best when viewed from four to
six metres away. Oils would be his medium of choice, but he has won
awards in Acrylics, Water Colours as well as Oils. He has won or been
placed in thirteen national art competitions since he began painting
seriously in 1978.
His paintings have been reproduced in the form of hand signed limited
edition prints, place- mats, coasters, and calendars. As the result of
successful exhibitions, Ron’s work can be found in many
countries
in the world. Ron is the author of an instructional video,
“Painting in Oils, with Ron Gribble.” This has sold
many
copies in his native New Zealand, and under license in the U.K. and
Australia. He has, as a result, become a sought after tutor, and judge.

James Horton PRBA
On Leaving the Royal
College of Art in 1974 James Horton has pursued a career as a
professional Painter. A few years after leaving the RCA he was elected
to the Royal Society of British Artists.
The constant theme in his work is working from life, whether portrait,
landscape or interiors. Much of what he does centres around travelling
and working on location. Anything that is produced on the spot is
rarely adjusted back in the studio, preserving the essence of a time
and a place. However, very often work made direct from life will
provide the basis for producing larger scale paintings done in the
studio.
James Horton has always been an active portrait painter but believes
likeJohn Singer Sargent that to be a good portrait painter one should
produce a variety of work made from life. He works mainly in oil and
watercolour but also in pastel, one of his books being 'Pastel
Techniques'. Apart from his own books, James Horton has written
numerous articles for a variety of magazines and his work is also
featured in many other books and articles. As a teacher he taught part-
time in several different art schools until 1990 and now has occasional
classes in his studio along the lines of the old atelier system where
students can study with a working painter. In 2002 he accompanied HRH
Prince Charles with ' The friends of Mount Athos' as artist in
residence with a special brief to draw and paint the monastery
architecture. Currently he works a great deal in India and since 2000
he has been taking groups to India and also accompanies painting groups
to other locations that include Tuscany, Venice, North Africa and
Jordan.

official artist to the Snowy Mountains Authority from 1950 to 1968,
Robert captured the rugged beauty of Australia's "High Country". During
his time on the "Snowy" he owned and operated an 800 hectare cattle
property in one of the most beautiful areas of the mountains. With
three kilometres of river and large tracts of wild bush country for
inspiration, Robert painted the magnificent landscape, the horses, the
cattle and the bush characters. This was where he developed a lifetime
love of the Mountains and the Monaro. In 1981 Robert worked on location
with Kirk Douglas & Jack Thompson for the filming of "The Man
from Snowy River". The major exhibition in Sydney Opera House was
opened by Jack Thompson reciting the poem. It was sold out immediately.
It marked a milestone in Robert's career, according him recognition as
one of Austalia's leading artists.
Robert Lovett has been painting for
sixty years in oils & watercolours. He first became known for
his Outback Australian themes especially with horses and cattle. Later
on he diversified into a wider variety of subjects, the human figure,
city scenes etc. He has travelled extensively, and painted many exotic
themes from Asia, Europe, America, the Middle East and the Pacific
Islands
Among many activities, Robert has produced articles
for art magazines in Australia and U.S.A. He has produced instruction
books & DVDs, taught seminars and instructed groups of artists

June Mendoza
June Mendoza is one of the worlds most emindnet portait painters of her
genereation. June has painted famous figures from all walks of life
from celebrities to politicians and the Queen. Portrait
painting
is a fascinating, hard but hugely rewarding profession. You work with
so many different people from every walk of life in so many different
parts of the world." She drew as a child and, aged about twelve, became
conscious that she was already on the portraiture road. Since
then she has continued without break doing commissions but always

Andrew Pitt
He has been
painting landscapes since he
was 11. For many years he painted exclusively in watercolour
concentrating on East Anglia landscapes and particularly marine scenes.
He now paints with equal facility in both watercolour and oil and has
greatly extended his range of subject matter. Although he has remained
a figurative artist, his oils exploit the full potential of the texture
of the paint and his aim remains to get a painterly image, which
captures the essence of the subject. Andrew is well known for his
loose, fresh approach to watercolour and the simplicity of his style
has made him much in demand as a tutor in this medium. He has had 15
one-man exhibitions since 1980 and contributed to numerous mixed shows.
He is a frequent art club demonstrator and workshop/painting holiday
tutor. Andrew's pictures are in many private collections in Britain as
well as Canada, Holland, North America, New Zealand, Slovakia and
Australia.

Richard
Rogers
Born in Kyogle, New South Wales in 1954, Richard Rogers is
known for iconic Australian imagery and the vibrancy of his painting
style. His art education has been largely informal. During the
1980's he learnt the
technique of batik
from South Australian artist Jeremy Keyte, which led to his first solo
exhibition, held at the Underground Gallery in Coober Pedy in
1985. Dissatisfied with the colour fastness of the dyes he
used,
he switched to painting with more traditional mediums, watercolour,
acrylics.and oils. He now paints primarily with acrylics. Meeting and
spending time with an aboriginal artist, John Evans, inspired a desire
to create an art style that is identifiably Australian, one that
combines the rhythm, patterns and colour of indigenous art with
Europeon art techniques. Richard's
last exhibition sold
completely and his work has been featured in the Artists Palette and
Australian Artist magazines. His
paintings are found in collections throughout Australia and overseas.

Reg Siger
Reg Siger is a self-taught artist who, for the last 30
years has specialised in depicting old cottages, farmhouses, village and
town scenes. Reg's work concentrates on the historical aspect of the
subjects, reflecting his fascination for old architecture. His
paintings rarely feature cars, traffic signs or any other modern
paraphernalia, giving the scenes a flavour of times gone by. He
exhibits mostly in East Anglia, UK, in churches, church halls and
village hall art shows, plus a few selected craft fairs. His working technique is unorthodox (so they say!) and
consists of a strong drawing executed with a brush and black waterproof
ink, which is then filled with acrylic paints. Reg seems to be one of
the very few artists painting rainy scenes. Some of these are almost
colourless as he uses only three shades mixed to produce interesting
greyish tones, giving these paintings a lot of atmosphere. He does take
commissions if the subject is compatible with his style of work.

With the Peak District on his doorstep, Peter is never far away from
inspiration for his landscape sketches and watercolour paintings.
Painting mainly in Yorkshire, his loose, traditional and pure
watercolour style is perfect for capturing the beauty of the English
countryside. Always a sketcher at school, Peter was influenced greatly
by his art teacher, Wilfred Ball. Now he claims walking as the excuse
for his painting - it gets him out into the landscape, and the
landscape keeps him inspired and interested. Peter exhibits regularly,
mainly in Yorkshire in Hawes. He also runs weekend workshops in the
summer when he takes groups sketching in the countryside and then
teaches them to paint in watercolour from life and their own sketches.
